Historic Photo Archives
You will find a wide variety of topics among the thousands of images relevant to the Columbia River Gorge and Wasco County. Subjects include Celilo Falls, Native Americans, the rivers before and after construction of The Dalles Dam, the Columbia Gorge Scenic Highway, agriculture, riverboats, trains, early pioneers, and historic downtown landmarks in The Dalles and area communities.
Photo collections include the Wasco County Pioneer Association picture boards, The Dalles Chronicle and George Lindsay collection, The Dalles Camera Club, and the Seufert family collections, among many others.

When our museum first opened in 1997 and many donated photos were scanned, it was before anyone even thought about the internet as a tool to showcase our photo collections. Thinking in terms of keywords for search engines was not a typical practice. As a result, some descriptions may be vague or imprecise. We are trying to improve all the time. Electronic reproductions of our digital photos are available for a small fee. To order a digital photo, please provide the catalog number with a signed copy of the Reproduction Order form, and submit to collections@gorgediscovery.org.
