First-ever Sense of Place Pop-up Event!

Thursday, March 21 at 6 PM

We’re proud to partner the Mt. Adams Institute’s popular storytelling series Sense of Place for their first-ever pop-up event, bringing these unique events that connect people through place and storytelling to locations throughout the Gorge.

This event will feature wildlife biologist Jocelyn Akins in conversation with Sense of Place host/curator Sarah Fox exploring what it takes to research rare carnivores in the Washington Cascades region, Jocelyn’s personal journey, and what the research may tell us about the rare carnivores’ chances of survival in the American West.

Sense of Place (SOP) features presenters with a unique knowledge of the Columbia River Gorge and who consider the natural, cultural, and political history that has shaped this place. The presenters can include scientists, tribal members, authors, farmers, and many others from throughout the Pacific Northwest. The information and stories shared at these talks deepen our understanding of the Gorge and strengthen our connection to the landscape and to each other.

Learn more about the event here and join us! Tickets can be purchased at our admissions desk or online.
