“Calvin Tibbets: Oregon’s First Pioneer” presented by Author Jerry Sutherland

February 15 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

“Calvin Tibbets: Oregon’s First Pioneer” presented by Author Jerry Sutherland

In 1832, Great Britain had virtual control of Oregon through its Hudson’s Bay Company. Fort Vancouver controlled the Willamette River and central Columbia River region, while Fort George (Astoria) controlled the mouth of the Columbia and coast line. Americans there before a man named Calvin Tibbets, had been explorers, fur trappers, scientists, trading sailors, and other businessmen. Tibbet’s goal was different. He believed that building a permanent colony of Americans was the best way to secure Oregon for American.

On Friday, February 15, join us as we welcome Jerry Sutherland, author of “Calvin Tibbets: Oregon’s First Pioneer” where he makes the case why Tibbets should be considered Oregon’s First Pioneer. He will share this innocuous but ubiquitous fellow’s many adventures with fans of early Oregon history.

Dinner  plus the program ($16) is at 6 pm. Our menu is savory pork tenderloin, cheddar garlic mashed potatoes, mandarin salad, bread and dessert. Beer and wine are available for purchase. The program  only ($5) starts at 7 pm.

Please purchase tickets by February 12 by calling 541.296.8600 #201.
