Annual CGDC Membership Meeting April 5 with speaker Kevin Gorman
As we stop and take a look around our settings, we are reminded that the place we call home is a spectacular area. An area that is fragile, yet rugged and unique. As the official interpretive center for the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area we take our mission very seriously and understand our role to inspire appreciation and stewardship through collection, preservation and interpretation of cultural and natural history resources.
The National Scenic Area consists of 293,000 acres located in Multnomah, Hood River, and Wasco Counties in Oregon and Clark, Skamania, and Klickitat Counties in Washington. It stretches for 85 miles from west to east, from the Sandy River Delta to the Deschutes River in Oregon and from Gibbons Creek to east of Wishram in Washington, and one to four miles wide from the Columbia River (essentially the ridge line), including both sides of the Columbia Gorge.
If you are a member, come gather with other members for a scrumptious meal and an informative presentation by Kevin Gorman from Friends of the Gorge. Kevin joined the organization in 1998 and during his tenure Friends has grown from eight staff and one office to 22 staff and three offices; net assets have grown from $750,000 to $22 million.
We look forward to seeing you there!
