This trio of Trail Band veterans creates a rich instrumental blending of guitar, violin, and soprano sax underpinning Rindy’s vocals and Marv’s original songs about NW history and culture. The Rosses were commissioned by the state in 1991 to create a musical based upon diaries of the Oregon Trail. That show led to the formation of The Trail Band and 13 CDs recorded over 25 years featuring songs about timber towns, Celilo Falls, the Oregon Trail, ranching, Tonya Harding, and life on the high desert.
The Rosses will play the Oregon Stories tunes in the first hour, take an intermission, and play a second set with tunes from Seafood Mama and Quarterflash inspired by bluegrass, swing, jazz, pop, and folk genres.
Eddie Parente’s wide-ranging virtuosity on the violin fills in perfectly between Rindy Ross’s airy vocals and Marv’s unique guitar voicings.
Rindy and Marv Ross have been playing together since they got married in 1971. Best known for their five Top 40 hits in Quarterflash including their iconic hit, “Harden My Heart”, the Rosses have garnered gold and platinum albums and were inducted into Oregon’s Music Hall of Fame.
Eddie Parente is one of the most sought-after violinists in the NW. A master of many styles including jazz, celtic, mariachi, klezmer, bluegrass, and gypsy swing, Eddie has played in The Trail Band with the Rosses for over 20 years.
