Content: No. 5 fishwheel at the head of the Narrows (Five mile Rapids). No. 5 was built in the winter of 1886-87 and re-built following 1894 flood. It was the best fishwheel on the Columbia river, averaging 73 tons per season from 1887 through 1926. Fishwheels were prohibited in Oregon, effective beginning in 1927.
